Sophie belkin
Actor • Singer • Dancer
SOPHIE BELKIN is an actor, singer, and dancer from Branchburg, NJ, and is currently based in Danbury, CT. Her passion for acting started at a young age when she was signed by a talent agency and began working on commercials and television shows. Some credits include a principal role on Law and Order: Criminal Intent, a commercial for Dr. Scholls, and various voiceover commercials, including Coppertone and HBO Family. She then found herself getting involved in community and school-led theatre programs where her love of musicals was born.
Sophie is a current senior at Western Connecticut State University, where she is about to graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. While in school, she became well versed in vocal pedagogy, dance, and various acting styles, having taken courses in Shakespeare, Chekhov, Restoration Comedy, Uta Hagen, and specifically on-camera acting. She has studied under dance legends Mary Ann Lamb, Tony Award winner Scott Wise, and Tony-nominated Elizabeth Parkinson as well as theatre and film industry professionals including Matt Newton, Tim Howard, and John Hickok.
Sophie made her professional debut at Berkshire Theatre Group as Lily in The Secret Garden. She has since performed in 54 Below’s 54 Sings P!nk and in Grease at Centenary Stage Company.
Sophie is also a proud Jewish-American woman who loves taking on projects that highlight her culture, and she has experience working with the Jewish Plays Project on various readings. She most recently played Shira in a staged reading of Oy Band at Goodspeed Musicals.
When she is not performing, you can find her making the world’s best blueberry muffins and banana bread, painting her friends’ nails, or debating other New Jersey natives on whether or not Central Jersey exists (it totally does!)
